When I have time to sit back and think about the weddings we shoot, I am really filled with the beauty of people and relationship and ritual and celebration and so many other things. It is certainly a privilege to photograph a day in the life of, by being a part of the intimacies of preparation, ceremony, of family, relaxation and speeches.
Giles and Ambers` wedding day affirmed why we love doing what we do. It was like a carefully crafted and refined small box, jam packed full of ideas and moments and details that sprang out as the wedding was sealed. The wedding ceremony started just after 3 and the sun disappeared just after 5 and there was so much to photograph. The chapel held three quarters of the guests with windows giving us avenues inside. There was bocce, a photobooth, an oyster bar, there was a marquee, there was a hall, there was a garden, there were keys to your table, named badges, cakes galore, bunting aplenty, heaters, chalk boards, pillows, there was a short amble up the road, hanging out in the long grass as the sun lay down, there was a chill out area, there was a guitarist, a dj, there was a beautiful dog…. wow… everywhere we looked there was something happening, someone enjoying, a vibe here, and there, and everywhere… we wanted days to photograph it all…
so I asked Giles and Amber to lie on the floor and soak it all in, to let it all buzz around them… this was my favourite moment.
