Who is Bushturkey Studio?
In 2019, Bushturkey Studio is Justin Ealand and Elize Strydom. We’re two photographers with a shared passion to tell real wedding stories, no matter who you are or who you love.
After meeting in 2008, Justin began to mentor Elize and she would assist him as he photographed weddings. Once she had developed the necessary skills and confidence, Elize started to photograph weddings on her own. Eventually Elize moved to Sydney to work as a radio journalist with the ABC but continued her freelance photographer. She and Justin stayed in touch and continued to support each other’s creative endeavours. In late 2018, Elize relocated to Byron Bay and a new Busturkey Studio partnership was born.
How do you work together?
We approach each wedding uniquely and document your day as two principal photographers. We currently limit the amount of weddings we photograph each year to 12.
What packages do you offer?
We keep things simple. We start as you're getting ready and follow the flow of events as they unfold throughout the day until the dancing starts (max eight hours).
We also offer elopement packages during the week.
How much do you charge?
Our prices start at 5000 for up to eight hours for us both to tell your story. Extra hours are 400 each.
We photograph elopements individually Monday to Thursday and prices start at 1200.
What about couple and engagement sessions?
We love doing this and offer it as an extra. It's a really great way for you to get comfortable with us and our cameras...and of course get some great photos!
How many photos do you deliver?
That's a hard one as it's not an exact science. Normally we work on the basis of 50+ stellar shots per hour of coverage, sometimes more, depending on your wedding. All photographs are delivered as high resolution JPGs, ready to print.
Do you offer albums too?
We love creating albums! Ideally, we would like every couple to get one. Our super pick-up-able albums are designed in-house and handmade in Australia. You'll love having it close by to flick through often.
When will we get our photos?
Up to six weeks after your wedding. Earlier, if possible! We know you'll be very keen to share some moments from your day so we'll also send you some sneak peeks in the week after.
Do you edit the photos?
Yes, we carefully edit all of your photographs. You will receive all photos in colour with a selection of black and whites too.
Do you travel for weddings?
We love to travel! We get very excited about new places, new sounds and new experiences, whether overseas or different parts of Australia. Let us know where you want to marry the love of your life and we'll work out how to be there for you.
What other extras do you offer?
Apart from engagement sessions and albums, we also offer wall prints. Get in touch with us for a detailed price list.
Can we meet before the wedding?
Of course! There's nothing better than meeting in person. If it's possible, let's do it. If not, there is plenty of technological wizardry to allow us to connect.
